I Have A Dream

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character....

I have a dream that one day that.... little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.
As the kids and I listened to this speech today, I cried in Thanksgiving that the Lord used people like MLK to bring us to the place we are today. While our country has a ways to go in race relations, I am thankful that the Lord continues to grow us all to recognize each other as His creation.

Then we read this book (in an attempt to show my kids what life was like not so long ago in New Orleans where their Mommy grew up). I cried again. We talked about past days when we would not be allowed to bring their new siblings to restaurants with us and they wouldn't be able to go to school together!! I am so thankful that the Lord does not leave us as we are, but continues His work in us. And again we thanked God for using normal, imperfect people like this little girl and big people like MLK to show us the love and kindness Jesus wants us to show others. Lord please use us normal, imperfect people to show others your love and do your work.

Love this and we've had similar conversations lately about the civil rights movement and how brave the pioneers of it were.
I'm sorry your dog looks like Ugly. I really am. :)
